Overview

Taskcenter can treat media as work products and evidence. Production media workflows should keep prompts, source files, generated outputs, and approvals together.

Files and previews

PDFs, screenshots, and generated media should open in a preview panel instead of becoming dead links in chat.

Asset lineage

Generated media should include prompt, model, references, revision notes, and final file location so the work can be repeated or audited.

Document and PDF generation

Entry route

/app main or Project chat, where the North Star loop authors a versioned Markdown workspace file and uses taskcenter export <path> --to docx,pdf.

Status

Partial; the A2 source-to-Office change is in a Codex branch and is not deployed or production-accepted.

Data source

one attested thread workspace source snapshot in D1/R2, converted into real PDF and DOCX bytes in R2 and linked through guarded artifacts, work_products, and thread activity rows. The exporter preserves headings, prose, lists, and tables, checks source structure and incomplete content, and refuses unsupported source rather than claiming a file exists. PDF Browser rendering and inspected page images require their configured bindings and credit admission.

Required permissions

work-products:write, thread ownership, organization scope, and Project access for Project-scoped work; reading prior artifacts requires work-products:read.

Empty state

a source that has not been exported is in progress, with no deliverable card until bytes and ledger evidence are ready.

Failure state

missing or stale source, unsupported markup, conversion errors, missing bindings, failed persistence, or invalid PDF/DOCX bytes return a specific blocker and no success card. Historical document.create queue messages only replay already verified bytes or close with a typed failure; they do not start another author. Previously stored structured documents remain readable through their retained metadata and artifact identity.
